Liverpool and England beanpole striker Peter Crouch, has opened up about his thoughts on WAGs.

Peter Crouch has opened up about the WAG phenomenon. In a Daily Mail interview, Crouch said, “To be honest, it is embarrassing at times. I don’t think many of the players want to be associated with it.

Crouch is dating Abbey Clancy, the lad’s mag model who publicly announced she wanted a football boyfriend, before landing Crouch. She was also photographed and featured in the tabloids snorting cocaine, but Crouch went on…

“We’re footballers and they’re players’ wives – and that’s the way it should stay.I don’t know whether it was a mistake to invite the WAGs to the World Cup,” he says.

“No one’s denying that we didn’t play as well as we could. Considering the standard of players I think we’ve underachieved for a few years now.

“It’s such a shame because you don’t know whether you’ll get another chance to play at that level again.”
